Az 1848. júniusi képviselőválasztást ábrázoló metszet ünnepi jellege hűen érzékelteti a magyar parlamentarizmus történetének egyik legjelentősebb epizódját. A választás, az 1848-as voksolás következtében hazánk törvényhozó hatalma teljesen új alapokra helyeződött. Addig ugyanis a rendi alapokon nyugvó képviseleti rendszer volt érvényben: az országgyűlésekre főként a nemesek férfitagjai és a városok képviselői kaptak meghívót.

A cím jelezve 4 nyelven (német, magyar, olasz, cseh) a kép körül, az alkotó, Vinzenz Katzler (1823–1882) osztrák festő, grafikus, jelezve jobbra lent. A metszet Ziegler, Anton: Vaterländische Bilder-Chronik aus der Geschichte des österreichischen Kaiserstaates: von seinen ältesten Bewohnern bis auf die gegenwärtige Zeit / nach den besten Hilfsquellen bearb. u. d mit Original-Handzeichnungen ausgestattet von -- (Wien, 1850. Benko) 4. kötete 2. részének 29. képe. A második rész az 1848–1849-es magyarországi események leírását tartalmazza, 28 városképpel (Buda, Pest, Pozsony, Prága, Bécs, Belgrád, Triest, Graz, Innsbruck stb.), valamint 56 történelmi életképpel és csataképpel illusztrálva.

The festive nature of this engraving, depicting the parliamentary elections of June 1848, faithfully captures one of the most significant episodes in the history of Hungarian parliamentarianism. As a result of the 1848 election, Hungary’s legislative power was placed on an entirely new foundation. Until then, a representative system based on the estates had been in effect: invitations to the national assemblies were primarily extended to male members of the nobility and representatives of the towns.
The title is provided in four languages (German, Hungarian, Italian, and Czech) along the four sides of the image. The print is plate number 29 from the second part of Anton Ziegler’s Vaterländische Bilder-Chronik aus der Geschichte des österreichischen Kaiserstaates (Patriotic Pictorial Chronicle from the History of the Austrian Imperial State), published by Benko in Vienna, 1850. This second part contains a description of the 1848–1849 events in Hungary, illustrated with 28 cityscapes (including Buda, Buda and Pest, Bratislava, Prague, Vienna, Belgrade, Trieste, Graz, Innsbruck, etc.), as well as 56 historical genre scenes and battle paintings.
