Copper coloured engraving of of the Kingdom of Poland and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (encompassing parts of present-day Poland, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, and Latvia) stretching from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea. This historical map is made by Johann Baptist Homann, the Nuremberg cartographer published this highly detailed, hand-colored work in the early 18th century (in several editions between 1710 and 1739). Homann relied on the descriptions provided by the 16th-century Polish scholar Szymon Starowolski. In the top left corner, there is an ornate cartouche featuring allegorical figures. It includes both Polish and German map scales.
