For William Miller by Bulmer [but Thomas M'Lean],A monumentális sorozat hét kötete Ausztria, Kína, Nagy-Britannia, az Orosz Birodalom és Törökország népviseleteit mutatja be. Két külön kötet Kína büntetési módszereit és Törökország katonai egyenruháit ismerteti. Finoman és gondosan megrajzolt, gazdagon részletezett, kézzel színezett, összesen 358 akvatinta táblával – ebből 140 akvatinta és 215 pontozó technikával készített metszet –, a kétoldalas leveleken angol-francia nyelvű képmagyarázatokkal.
Bár a kötetek címlapjai megőrizték az eredeti William Miller-féle impresszumot, a sorozatot valójában Thomas M'Lean adta ki. M'Lean 1818-ban vásárolta meg Miller eredeti dúcait John Murray kiadótól, aki korábban, 1812-ben vette át Miller üzletét és készletét. A M'Lean-féle, 1818-as Törökország katonai egyenruhái (Military Costume of Turkey) című kötet néhány példányába egy nyomtatott értesítést ragasztottak, amely Miller eredeti művének megmaradt raktárkészletét hirdette. Although the title pages retain the original William Miller imprint, this series was actually reissued by Thomas M'Lean. In 1818, M'Lean acquired Miller’s original plates from the publisher John Murray, who had taken over Miller's premises and stock in 1812. A printed notice tipped into a few copies of M'Lean's 1818 edition of the Military Costume of Turkey advertised the remaining copies of Miller's original work. The successful disposal of this remainder stock presumably induced M'Lean to republish the entire seven-volume series around 1819 or 1820. According to J. R. Abbey’s definitive bibliography (Abbey, Travel, p. 370), the earliest impressions of the first edition (1804) were struck on paper with watermarks prior to 1804. In contrast, the paper in the present copy bears the watermarks "J. Whatman 1819" and "1818", securely establishing this set as part of Thomas M'Lean's later reissue from circa 1820.

A very fine set, a deluxe issue beautifully bound in uniform contemporary straight-grained red morocco, blindstamped leafy ornament in borders and gilt roll-tooled flower and acanthus interlace in frame, spines richly gilt in compartments with raised bands, inner dentelles gilt, all edges gilt. Extremities with minor rubbing. Folio.
