It was written at the suggestion of Abbot Kuno von Siegburg. Rupert describes 'how the eternal world plan is realized in spite of all the obstacles that stand in its way. Rupert's language is lively, rich in imagery, often full of verve and poetry. Rupert von Deutz made an outstanding contribution to the intellectual heights of 12th century Middle Latin. He was a pioneer and master of the theology of prayer on German soil, and an excellent exegete. Gothic type.
