Eusebius Pamphilus (270-340) caesareai püspök munkáját V. Miklós pápa megbízásából Georgius Trapezuntius fordította görögből latinra. A munka a kereszténység apologiáját, az evangéliumok pogány és ószövetségi előzményeit tartalmazza. Eusebius az első keresztény egyháztörténetíró, fontos szerepet játszott az újszövetségi kánon megállapításában. Neve főleg a teremtés óta eltelt idő és Krisztus születési időpontjának meghatározásáról ismeretes.

Eusebius Pamphilus (270–340), Bishop of Caesarea, had his work translated from Greek into Latin by Georgius Trapezuntius at the request of Pope Nicholas V. The work presents an apology of Christianity, as well as the pagan and Old Testament antecedents of the Gospels. Eusebius was the first Christian church historian and played a significant role in establishing the New Testament canon. He is especially known for his efforts to determine the time elapsed since the Creation and the date of Christ’s birth.
