This volume is a significant relic of Hungarian cultural history in several respects: "The binding, made of brown leather over beveled wooden boards, is nearly contemporary with the printing of the book. Both the front and back covers feature identical blind-tooled decorations. A total of five distinct stamp designs are used. Between two plain frames lies a single decorated border: on the short sides are acanthus-palmette stamps, while the long sides are adorned with rosette and vine motifs. In the narrow, rectangular central panel, fleur-de-lis stamps are arranged. The ends of the raised bands are finished with small free-standing rosettes. The book is sewn on two double cords; the three spine compartments bear barely visible latticework decorations. The original headcap is unravelled, while the tailcap shows a two-colored, smooth, sewn finish. The binding is fastened with two brass clasps. This binding is a simpler but characteristic example of Renaissance bookbinding from Buda, belonging to the group of Hungarian language relics such as the Virginia and Nagyszombat Codices. At the end of the book, a handwritten Sequentia for Saint Stephen and Saint Ladislaus is present; along with the Buda Renaissance binding, these clearly indicate Hungarian provenance and usage, making this book a highly important piece of Hungarian cultural heritage. On the title page, a contemporary user wrote in red ink: 'De Sancto Stephano folio 14,' directing the reader’s attention to Saint Stephen the Protomartyr, patron saint of Hungary’s first king. On the pastedown of the rear board, a later handwritten Hungarian-language recipe can be found."
