Vinzenz Katzler (1823–1882), osztrák festő, grafikus, részletekben gazdag, finoman kidolgozott metszetén a Ferdinánd előtt álló magyar küldöttséget jelenítette meg. 1848. szeptember 9-én a magyar parlamenti küldöttség azért kereste fel V. Ferdinándot Schönbrunnban, hogy a király segítségét kérjék Jellasics horvát bán fenyegető támadásával szemben. Az uralkodó azonban elutasító és semmitmondó választ adott, ami egyértelművé tette, hogy a bécsi udvar már nem támogatja a magyar kormányt. A diplomáciai kudarc hatására a Batthyány-kormány lemondott, a magyar politika pedig a békés útról kényszerűen a fegyveres önvédelem és a szabadságharc irányába fordult.

A második rész az 1848–1849-es magyarországi események leírását tartalmazza, 28 városképpel (Buda, Pest, Pozsony, Prága, Bécs, Belgrád, Triest, Graz, Innsbruck stb.), valamint 56 történelmi életképpel és csataképpel illusztrálva.

In his richly detailed and finely crafted engraving, the Austrian painter and graphic artist Vinzenz Katzler (1823–1882) depicted the Hungarian delegation standing before Ferdinand. On September 9, 1848, the Hungarian parliamentary delegation visited Ferdinand V in Schönbrunn to seek the King's assistance against the threatening offensive by the Croatian Ban, Jelačić. However, the monarch gave a dismissive and vague response, making it clear that the Imperial Court in Vienna no longer supported the Hungarian government. Following this diplomatic failure, the Batthyány government resigned, and Hungarian politics was forced to turn from a peaceful path toward armed self-defense and the War of Independence.
The title is provided in four languages (German, Hungarian, Italian, and Czech) along the four sides of the image. The print is plate number 34 from the second part of Anton Ziegler’s Vaterländische Bilder-Chronik aus der Geschichte des österreichischen Kaiserstaates (Patriotic Pictorial Chronicle from the History of the Austrian Imperial State), published by Benko in Vienna, 1850. This second part contains a description of the 1848–1849 events in Hungary, illustrated with 28 cityscapes (including Buda, Buda and Pest, Bratislava, Prague, Vienna, Belgrade, Trieste, Graz, Innsbruck, etc.), as well as 56 historical genre scenes and battle paintings.
