Első kiadás. A svájci orvos és botanikus, Johann Bauhin (1541–1613), aki együttműködött Gesnerrel, Fuchsszal és Rondelet-tel, ezt a lenyűgöző művet 1600-tól haláláig állította össze. Halála után veje, Johann Heinrich Cherle fejezett be, és D. Chabrée valamint Franz Ludwig von Graffenried (1600–1661), az svájci Yverdon helytartójának (bailiff) anyagi támogatásával adtak ki. Fontos botanikai összefoglaló mű 5226 növény leírásával és szinonimáival. Így a korszak legátfogóbb enciklopédiája az európai, valamint a keleti és amerikai flóráról.

Korabeli bőrkötés fatáblákon, erősen kopott. A III. kötet a javított nyomás jellemzőivel, ahogyan azt Hunt és Norman leírják.  Enyhén barnult, és helyenként kissé foltos; különösen az I. kötet részben a margón vízfoltos, valamint helyenként enyhén féregjáratos; az I. kötet címlapján alul egy tulajdonosi bejegyzés kezdete, valamint kivágás található.

First edition. The principal work of the Swiss physician and botanist Johann Bauhin (1541–1613), who collaborated with Gesner, Fuchs, and Rondelet, and compiled this impressive work from 1600 until his death. It was completed posthumously by his son-in-law, Johann Heinrich Cherler, and published with the financial support of D. Chabrée, and Franz Ludwig von Graffenried (1600–1661), bailiff of Yverdon, Switzerland. An important botanical compendium containing descriptions and synonyms of 5,226 plants, it represents the most comprehensive encyclopaedia of European as well as Eastern and American flora of its time.

Contemporary calf over wooden boards, heavily worn. Volume III with the characteristics of the corrected issue as described by Hunt and Norman. Slightly browned and somewhat spotted in places; especially in Volume I, partly waterstained in the margins and occasionally wormed; lower part of the title page of Volume I with the beginning of an ownership inscription and with a portion cut away.
