(A Goring-kadtélyt John Rebecca tervezte Sir Bysshe Shelley báró számára. Beautifully colored plates, with captions below, showing landscapes, people typical of the region, and soldiers in contemporary, fashion-historical costumes. Salamanca, Alcantara, Lisbon, Cintra, Villa Franca, Castle Benevente, Toro, Leon, Villa Velha…M: 24×36 cm. In addition to the colorful plates, there is a one-page text explanation and description.
Publisher's full leather binding with ribbed and gilt spine. With gilt frame decoration and title on the plates. The spine has been replaced by an expert. Minimal stains on the leaves. Very nice album. Folio.
The first plate's verso has a contemporary ex libris – Castle Goring - and an inked poss. entry: Katherine Annabella Bisshopp, February 1817.
(The Goring Castle was designed by John Rebecca for Sir Bysshe Shelley, 1st Baronet. It was originally intended for his grandson, the famous poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, to live in, but he drowned in Italy at the age of 29. Katherine Annabella Bisshopp (1791–1871) was the daughter and co-heiress of Sir Cecil Bisshopp, 8th Baronet of Parham (and from 1815 also 12th Baron Zouche of Haryngworth), and Harriett Anne Southwell. In 1826, she married Vice-Admiral Sir George Richard Brooke-Pechell, 4th Baronet of Goring Castle in Sussex.)
