A Jägerfreuden című 1907-es német kiadás Theodore Roosevelt (1858–1919) politikus, író, az USA 26. elnökének és szenvedélyes vadásznak Outdoor Pastimes of an American Hunter című, eredetileg 1905-ben megjelent művének fordítása. A mű, melynek különlegessége, hogy Roosevelt már elnökként írta, az 1901 és 1905 közötti vadászatait taglalja. Tíz fejezete a kuguar-kutyákkal való vadászatot, egy coloradói medvevadászatot, a farkashajszákat, a marhatenyésztők vidékén tett vadászatokat és a villásszarvú antilopot, egy lövést a vadjuhra, a virginiai szarvast, az öszvérszarvast (vagy a Sziklás-hegység hosszúfülű szarvasát), a vapitit, a vadon-rezervátumokat és a Yellowstone Parkot örökíti meg.

This 1907 German first edition is a translation of Theodore Roosevelt’s Outdoor Pastimes of an American Hunter, originally published in 1905. The work features a frontispiece of Roosevelt as a rancher and covers his hunting expeditions between 1901 and 1905. What makes this volume particularly special is that it was written during his presidency, offering a rare glimpse into the active private life of a sitting world leader. The ten chapters include: with the cougar hounds, a bear hunt in Colorado, wolf coursing, hunting in cattle country and the pronghorn, a shot at a mountain sheep, the white-tailed deer, the mule deer or the long-eared deer of the Rocky Mountains, the wapiti, wilderness reserves and Yellowstone Park, books on big game, and finally, at home.
Publisher's illustrated full cloth binding, with Roseevelt and his horse on front board, embossed in brown, title with an ornate gilded initial. Hypnotically- patterned endpapers (possessor's inscription erased on the front one), painted edges. Excellent copy.
