Anton Ziegler (1793–1869) osztrák író és festő metszete minden részletre kiterjedő aprólékos gonddal jeleníti meg az 1848. október 6-án a bécsi Tabor-hídnál lezajlott esemény egy jelenetét.

A bécsi radikális erők, a magyar szabadságharccal rokonszenvezve, 1848. október 6-án fegyveres felkeléssel akadályozták meg a Jellasics segítségére küldött osztrák csapatok elindulását. Az egyetemistákból és munkásokból álló felkelők a Dunán átvezető Tabor-hídnál barikádokat emeltek, és bár Latour hadügyminiszter ágyúkat is bevetett ellenük, a katonák egy része megtagadta a harcot, a népfelkelők pedig végül visszaszorították a kormányerőket. A győzedelmes tömeg ezt követően a belvárosba vonult, ahol elfogták és népítélet keretében felakasztották a hadügyminisztert.

With meticulous attention to every detail, Austrian painter and writer Anton Ziegler’s (1793–1869) engraving depicts a scene from the events that unfolded at the Tabor Bridge in Vienna on October 6, 1848. On that day, radical forces in Vienna, sympathizing with the Hungarian War of Independence, launched an armed uprising to prevent the departure of Austrian troops sent to reinforce Jelačić. The insurgents, consisting of students and workers, erected barricades at the Tabor Bridge crossing the Danube. Although Minister of War Latour deployed cannons against them, a portion of the soldiers refused to fight, and the people's militia ultimately pushed back the government forces. The victorious crowd then marched to the city center, where they captured the Minister of War and executed him by hanging as an act of vigilante justice.
The title is provided in four languages (German, Hungarian, Italian, and Czech) along the four sides of the image. The print is plate number 13 from the first part of Anton Ziegler’s Vaterländische Bilder-Chronik aus der Geschichte des österreichischen Kaiserstaates (Patriotic Pictorial Chronicle from the History of the Austrian Imperial State), published by Benko in Vienna, 1850. This second part contains a description of the 1848–1849 events in Hungary, illustrated with 28 cityscapes (including Buda, Buda and Pest, Bratislava, Prague, Vienna, Belgrade, Trieste, Graz, Innsbruck, etc.), as well as 56 historical genre scenes and battle paintings.
