The Vogelbilder... is not just an extraordinary survey of the parrots of the world, but a most comprehensive system of classification, cataloguing the parrots by region of origin and species, together with 33 fine-detailed and accurate chromolitography plates, finished by hand after Gustav Mützel. The work was edited by Anton Reichenow (1847–1941), one of the most prominent ornithologists and herpetologists of his time, after whom several birds were named.

Complete, one of the tissue guards torn, while an other has the Russian word хорошо ’good’ written on it. Some pages with slight traces of foxing, otherwise a fine copy with clean plates. Publisher’s cloth, blind-stamped and gilt, with some minor signs of use, otherwise in fine condition.
