Az utolsó korabeli válogatott kiadás, amely a legnépszerűbb és legérthetőbb kiadásnak számít (első ízben ezen a címen). A német misztikus filozófus, Jakob Böhme (1575–1624) a XVII. századi német keresztény misztika és teozófia egyik legnagyobb hatású gondolkodója, az első német nyelvű filozófus. Jelen válogatás tartalmazza Böhme több, legfontosabb írását (mint például az Aurora), amelyek legtöbbje mélyen látomásosak, nyelvezetük pedig rendkívül sűrű, szimbolikus, gyakran egyéni, alkímiai és asztrológiai fogalmakkal átszőtt: ez kortársak számára is borzasztóan nehezen érthetővé tette a szövegeket. Ezért ebben a válogatott kötetben csak kivonatolva tálalják műveit, egybe sűrítve mester legfontosabb gondolatait, kihagyva vagy leegyszerűsítve a legnehezebb, spekulatív teozófiai fejtegetéseket, és a tanítások lényegére fókuszál. „Böhme »homályos« kifejezésmódjára tekintettel egy ilyen népkiadás az előszó szerint sürgetően szükséges volt” (Dünhaupt).

The last contemporary selected edition, considered the most popular and accessible (published under this title for the first time). The German mystic philosopher Jakob Böhme (1575–1624) was one of the most influential thinkers of 17th-century German Christian mysticism and theosophy, and the first philosopher to write in the German language. This selection includes several of Böhme's most important writings (such as the Aurora), most of which are deeply visionary. Their language is remarkably dense, symbolic, and often interwoven with highly idiosyncratic, alchemical, and astrological concepts, rendering the texts exceedingly difficult to understand even for his contemporaries. For this reason, his works are presented here as excerpts, condensing the master's most important thoughts, omitting or simplifying the most difficult, speculative theosophical arguments, and focusing on the essence of his teachings.
