Pozsony (szlovákul: Bratislava (1919-ig Prešporok), németül: Pressburg (régiesen Preßburg), latinul: Posonium) vár és város látképe a Duna túlpartjáról felvéve, a hátoldalon latin szöveggel. Készítője ismeretlen. Eredetileg Braun-Hogenberg "Civitates orbis terrarum" című munkája IV. kötetének 44. lapján jelent meg. A World Digital Library (az UNESCO és a LOC által üzemeltetett) digitális világkönyvtár szerint ez Pozsony legkorábbi térképe.

Ez a kép egy magasan emelkedő kilátóhelyről néz délről a Duna északi partján fekvő városra, a háttérben a Kis-Kárpátok emelkednek. Balra a vár áll egy dombon, a város pedig a lábát szegélyezi. A Szent Márton-székesegyház, amelynek tornya aránytalanul kis méretarányban van ábrázolva, a mérsékelten megerősített város nyugati peremén áll.

The scene is viewed from an elevated vantage point, looking northward across the River Danube toward the city, with the Little Carpathians rising in the background. To the left stands the castle on its hill, with the city spreading out at its base. St. Martin's Cathedral, with its tower depicted at a disproportionately small scale, is located on the western edge of the moderately fortified city.

Bratislava (known in German as Pressburg) was part of the Kingdom of Hungary almost continuously from the early 10th century until 1918. Following the fall of much of Hungary, including its capital Buda (Ofen), to the Ottoman Empire in 1526, Bratislava became the capital until the 18th century. Between 1563 and 1830, Hungarian Habsburg monarchs were crowned in St. Martin's Cathedral. In 1918, Bratislava was incorporated into the newly formed Republic of Czechoslovakia, and since 1993, it has served as the capital of Slovakia. (Taschen)
