A térkép az Amazonas és a River Plate folyó mentén kiterjedt részleteket tartalmaz, bár ezen információk nagy része spekulatív. This map is derived from the work of Guillaume De L'Isle, a renowned French cartographer who served as mapmaker to the King of France and was among the most influential figures in early 18th-century cartography. The credit highlights De L'Isle's reliance on information provided to the French Royal Academy of Sciences.
The map features extensive details along the Amazon River and the River Plate, though much of this information is speculative. While the coastal areas are well-charted, significant portions of the interior—such as Terre Magellanique, Bresil, Pays des Amazons, and Provinces de Rio de la Plata—remain uncharted and blank.
It also traces the routes of 16th- and 17th-century explorers, including Drake, Schouten, Magellan, Mendana, Olivier, Stirnaento, and others, extending to the Solomon Islands and beyond.
The map is adorned with a beautifully ornate decorative cartouche.
