Az Oszmán Birodalom elegáns rézmetszetű térképe a Mercator–Hondius-atlaszból. Az Oszmán Birodalmat mutatja be, annak hatlams hatalmas területeit a Balkánon, Anatóliában, a Levantén, az Arab-félszigeten és Észak-Afrikában.

A birodalom határait szaggatott vonal jelöli, érzékeltetve annak óriási méreteit. A városok és települések jelölve, ahogy az az atlaszban általánosan szokás volt. A térkép bal alsó sarkában díszes szíjfonatos kartusban található a cím és a lépték. A térkép felső részén egy portré látható „Sultan Mahumet Turcorum Imperat.” felirattal, amely III. Mehmed szultánra utal, aki 1595 és 1603 között uralkodott. III. Mehmed hírhedt volt tizenkilenc fivére kivégeztetéséről, a Habsburg Birodalommal és a Magyar Királysággal folytatott háborúról, a dzseláli felkelésekről, valamint arról, hogy 1599-ben fogadta I. Erzsébet angol királynő követét.
Ez a térkép először 1606-ban jelent meg az atlaszban, Jodocus Hondius új lemezként illesztette be.
Korához képest jó állapotban. Az alsó margóhoz közel a hajtás mentén restaurálva, a képmezőt alig éűthatóan érintve. A hátoldalon francia nyelvű szöveg, oldalszámok 345-346, „Ooooooooo”, a hajtás mentén megerősítve.

A remarkable example of the map depicting the vast expanse of the Ottoman Empire, covering the Balkans, Anatolia, the Levant, the Arabian Peninsula, and parts of North Africa.
Published by Henricus Hondius in his Atlas sive Cosmographicae Meditationes de Fabrica Mundi et Fabricati Figura—meaning “Atlas or Cosmographical Meditations on the Structure of the World and the Shape of the Fabric”—this work continued the legacy of the renowned Gerard Mercator. The atlas was issued by the Hondius family throughout the 17th century.
The map outlines the borders of the Ottoman Empire with a dotted line, highlighting one of the largest territorial empires in world history. Cities and towns are identified using the atlas’s signature symbol of small building icons. The topography includes detailed representations of mountain ranges and desert dunes, particularly across the Arabian Peninsula. Informative annotations provide additional details about the Caspian Sea, Black Sea, and neighboring kingdoms.
A richly ornamented strapwork cartouche in the lower left corner contains the title and scale. At the top of the map is a portrait labeled "Sultan Mahumet Turcorum Imperat.," referring to Sultan Mehmed III, who reigned from 1595 to 1603. Mehmed III is remembered for the execution of his nineteen brothers, his involvement in the Austro-Ottoman War, the Jelali Revolts, and his court's reception of Queen Elizabeth I’s envoy in 1599.
This map was first introduced into the atlas in 1606, added by Jodocus Hondius, and remained a fixture in editions through to the French version published between 1639 and 1644.
In good condition for its age. Restored along the fold close to the lower margin, slightly affecting the image field. French text on verso, page numbers 345-346, "Ooooooo", reinforced along fold.
