A Fekete- és a Földközi-tengertől Közép-Ázsiáig terjedő régió Gerard de Jode által készített rézmetszetű térképe, amely „Speculum Orbis Terrae” című atlaszának második kiadásában jelent meg. Az ábrázolás Giacomo Gastaldi 1561-es kétlapos munkája, a „La Descrittione Della Prima Parte Dell’ Asia…” alapján készült. A térkép Anatóliát, Ciprust, a Szentföldet, valamint a mai Irak, Irán és Afganisztán területét jeleníti meg. Névrajza – a kor biztosította lehetőségekhez képest – részletes, a kartográfiai hiányosságokat igyekeztek illusztrációkkal, domborzati elemekkel és nagyobb méretű betűtípusok használatával elfedni. A metszők, Jan és Lucas van Deutecum finoman díszített kartussal és egy szélrózsával illusztrálták a lapot, amelynek hátoldalán latin nyelvű szöveg található.

Mérete: 30x50,5 (37 x 53,5) cm. Hátul papírcsíkkal megerősítve. A felső részen középen néhány folttal, felette a térképmezőn kívül javított szakadással. A tiszta, erős nyomaton a nyomtatás során meggyűrődött papír miatt néhány helyen vékony világos csíkkal.

A copperplate map of the region from the Black Sea and the Mediterranean to Central Asia by Gerard de Jode, published in the second edition of his atlas, “Speculum Orbis Terrae”. The cartography is based on Giacomo Gastaldi’s 1561 two-page work, “La Descrittione Della Prima Parte Dell’Asia...”. The map shows Anatolia, Cyprus, the Holy Land, and the territories of modern-day Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. Its nomenclature is detailed, considering the possibilities of the time, and cartographic shortcomings were attempted to be addressed through illustrations, relief elements, and the use of larger fonts. The engravers, Jan and Lucas van Deutecum, illustrated the sheet with a finely decorated cartouche and a compass rose, on the back of which is a Latin text.
Size: 30x50,5 (37 x 53,5) cm. There is a paper strip on the back along the centrefold, a few stains in the middle of the upper part, and a repaired tear above it outside the map field. The clean, strong print has some thin, light stripes in certain areas due to paper creasing during printing.
