An excellent example of Rigobert Bonne and Guillaume Raynal's 1780 map of Chile, covering present-day Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, the Falkland Islands, Tierra del Fuego, and Cape Horn. The map includes several fictional mountain ranges in Patagonia and central Argentina. First published in 1780, in G. Raynal's 'Atlas de Toutes les Parties'.

Rigobert Bonne (1727–1795) was among the most prominent cartographers of the late 18th century. In 1773, he succeeded Jacques Bellin as Royal Cartographer of France in the office of the Hydrographer at the Dépôt de la Marine.
