József nádor latin nyelvű, 1838. november 21-én Budán kelt, aláírt levele, amelyben megköszöni Moson vármegyének (a megye nemesi közösségének), hogy segéllyel segítették az 1838. évi esztergomi és pest-budai árvíz károsultjait. József nádor aktív szerepet vállalt az árvíz utáni helyreállítás koordinálásában: az általa elnökölt Szépítő Bizottmány április 1. és május 14. között felülvizsgálta a sérült épületeket, az év hátralevő részében pedig az árvízben érintett házak több, mint harmadát helyrehozták.

Letter of Archduke Josef of Austria, Palatine of Hungary, written on 21 November 1838, in Buda, in which he thanks the noble community of Moson County for helping the victims of the floods of 1838 of Esztergom and Pest-Buda. The Archduke chaired the Building Committee that inspected the damaged buildings between 1 April and 14 May, and during the rest of the year more than third of the affected houses were repaired.
