Matthaus Seutter (1678-1757) a 18. század egyik legjelentősebb és legtermékenyebb német térképkiadója volt. Számos munkája merít a Homann és a De L'Isle cégek által készített korábbi térképeiből, vagy épp azok egyenes másolatai.

A decorative map of Sri Lanka, oriented with the north positioned to the right. The map locates early forts, temples, mountains, and Dutch seaports. One of Ceylon's most detailed and decorative maps published in the period. The impressive title cartouche depicts locals trading ivory and jewels with a European, under the watchful eye of an elephant. The title continues to associate the island with the Ptolemaic notion of Taprobana.

Matthaus Seutter (1678–1757) was one of the most prominent and prolific German map publishers of the 18th century. Many of his works were heavily influenced by, or directly copied from earlier maps produced by the Homann and De L'Isle firms.
